Rule by Fear and Intimidation
The use of fear and intimidation to create a climate in which people are afraid to oppose the regime …. This is a chapter in the dictator’s playbook Trump is using. His actions so far include:
* Launching unjustified criminal investigations against political opponents
* Sending military troops to intimidate civilians
* Threatening to deport US citizens or to remove the citizenship of those who oppose him
* Defunding universities, deporting students who peaceably use free speech
* Firing federal workers who may show more loyalty to the law than to him; hiring only those who are totally loyal to him above any laws or the Constitution.
Some law firms, universities, media companies, and too many politicians, mostly Republicans, have caved in to Trump’s threats.
But many of those threatened have stood up and clearly told Trump to “f*** off.”
It is more important than ever to stand with those who stand up to the dictator.
Resist, do not give up or give in.
