Russia ‘deliberately targeted’ Poland’s airspace, Sikorski says. “Last night, Poland’s airspace was breached 19 times by drones manufactured in Russia. The assessment of Polish and NATO air forces is that they did not veer off course, but were deliberately targeted,” Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said in a video statement.

‘Extremely dangerous’ — European leaders, Trump react to downing of Russian drones over Poland. European leaders denounced Russia on Sept. 10 after Poland downed multiple Russian drones in its airspace, marking the first time a NATO member has destroyed Moscow’s military assets over its territory during the war in Ukraine.
EU weighs 6.6 billion euros fund to buy US weapons for Ukraine, Kyiv says. “During the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, we received an important signal that support for Ukraine will continue and grow stronger,” Ukraine’s Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
7 drones, projectile fragment of unknown origin found in Poland after Russian incursion. The remains of a projectile of an unknown origin were found in the Lublin province, Polish Interior Ministry spokesperson Karolina Galecka said.
Moscow claims ‘no evidence’ drones downed over Poland were Russian. “No evidence has been presented that these drones are of Russian origin,” said Andrei Ordash, Moscow’s charge d’affaires in Poland.

In largest drone breach into NATO territory, Russia appears to be probing Polish resolve
Nineteen Russian drones were recorded crossing into Poland on Sept. 10, in what became the largest attack on a NATO member state since the start of Moscow’s all-out war against Ukraine.

‘Pure terrorism’ — At least 25 killed in Russian air strike on Ukrainian village during pension payouts. The bombing took place around 11 a.m. while local residents lined up to receive pensions, according to officials. The casualties included local pensioners and employees of Ukrposhta, Ukraine’s national post service, who were delivering the payments.
29 killed, 34 injured in Russian attacks on Ukraine over past day. Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 415 Shahed-type attack and decoy drones, 42 cruise missiles, and one Iskander-M ballistic missile overnight.
General Staff: Russia has lost 1,091,000 troops in Ukraine since Feb. 24, 2022. The number includes 990 casualties that Russian forces suffered over the past day.
International response
EU may accelerate phase-out of Russian oil and gas, von der Leyen says. The EU banned most Russian oil imports at the onset of the full-scale invasion in 2022 and previously planned to phase out all energy purchases by the end of 2027.
Ukraine receives another $1.2 billion in financial aid from the EU, PM announces. Ukraine receives funds from frozen Russian assets under the Group of Seven’s (G7) Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) mechanism. Within the ERA initiative, Ukraine is expected to get $50 billion in loans that will be repaid using future profits from frozen Russian assets.
EU’s von der Leyen floats new Ukraine reparations loan funded by Russian assets. The proposed solution would stop short of confiscating Russian sovereign assets but provide additional funding to Ukraine as it faces Moscow’s ongoing all-out invasion.
Trump sees no reason to economically isolate Russia outside war in Ukraine, Vance says. Once a settlement is reached, Washington could have “a very productive economic relationship” with both Kyiv and Moscow, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said.

Russian officials named as suspects in killing of EuroMaidan protesters. “The Russians personally visited the central districts of Kyiv, in particular Independence Square, assessed the situation on the spot and further adjusted… the operational plan of neutralizing protest actions with the forceful dispersal of demonstrators,” the State Bureau of Investigation said.

American right-wing activist Charlie Kirk killed in Utah, Trump confirms. “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” U.S. President Donald Trump wrote on social media, confirming Kirk’s death.
Anti-corruption detective charged with graft as conflict with security service escalates. The report comes amid an escalating conflict between the SBU, which is loyal to the President’s Office, and the NABU, which is seen as more independent from the executive branch.
‘Unacceptable’ — Ukraine denounces Israeli strike in Qatar. “A strike on the territory of a state acting as a mediator in the Gaza Strip peace negotiations is a gross violation of international law,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
Hours after flying drones into Poland, Russia condemns Israeli strike on Doha as ‘gross violation.’ The “unprecedented violation of Polish airspace” saw NATO activate Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty.
